Steve Sheppard is a writer, musician and songwriter. He is the author of two novels: Tourist Town: A Nantucket Idyll, and Nantucket Nocturne: A Winter’s Idyll. He has written for the Boston Globe, Philadelphia Inquirer and Providence Journal among other publications. His songwriting credits include “Tourist Town,” “The Fenway Song,” and “The Nantucket Song.” For eight years, he was editor of the original Nantucket Magazine, dedicated to the history, people, and culture of the island. He began his journalism career with the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror, and also worked as a reporter for the Patriot Ledger of Quincy, MA, and sports editor of the Nantucket Independent. He also served as deputy director of the Egan Institute of Maritime Studies (now the Egan Maritime Institute). He lives on Nantucket with his wife, Karin.
