DeWitt Smith has printer’s ink in her DNA; her grandfather and father were newspaper publishers. She started her journalism career at Time magazine, then moved to the newspapers; the Washington Star, the Miami News and the Nantucket Beacon, all in the newspaper cemetery. These days, she edits and writes books.
