Frances Ruley Karttunen is a Nantucket historian. Her many books include The Other Islanders: People Who Pulled Nantucket's Oars (2005) and Nantucket's North Shore: A Neighborhood History (2014), published by Spinner Publications. Her most recent work is Something Should Be Done: A History of the Nantucket Civic League.
