Ryder S. Ziebarth, a writer, editor, and freelance writing-coach, holds an BA in Communications and Journalism, and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction. She is currently an associate editor for Brevity: A Journal of Concise Literary Nonfiction, and the past interview columnist for Proximity Magazine’s True column. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Brevity, Hippocampus Magazine, Tiferet, The Minerva Press, Talking Writing, among many other publications; and on Nantucket, Mahon about Town, The Nantucket Chronicle, and N Magazine. She is the founder and director of The Cedar Ridge Writer’s Series, a one-day series of craft workshops held on her 18th century homestead in Bedminster, New Jersey. Ryder is currently writing a memoir about the death of her father seen through the lens of place and nature on her fifth-generation family farm where she lives with her husband and three West Highland Terriers. The best part of her writing life is bringing in authors, writing blog posts, and running around town pulling the occasional cart-full of books for the Nantucket Book Festival, which she has done since 2011.
