Alex Gilvarry

Alex Gilvarry, a native of Staten Island, New York, is a Norman Mailer Fellow. A contributor to NPR's All Things Considered, his work has also appeared in the Paris Review Daily, among other places. Gilvarry is the founding editor of the website, Tottenville Review, a book review collaborative. His debut novel From the Memoirs of a Non-Enemy Combatant (2012) tells the story of a Filipino-born fashion designer in New York who suffers rendition to Guantanamo because of his ties to an alleged terrorist. Mr. Gilvarry lives in Brooklyn and Cambridge, Mass.
