Anita Diamant

About

Anita Diamant’s best-selling new novel, The Boston Girl, is the story of Addie Baum, who was born in 1900 to immigrant parents. In response to a question from her 22-year-old granddaughter, 85-year-old Addie describes her youth, which coincided with tumultuous social changes for women in the early 20th century. Her first novel, The Red Tent, published in 1997, was based on the little known biblical story of Dinah and became a word-of-mouth bestseller in the US and overseas, where it has been published in more than 25 countries. The Red Tent won the 2001 Booksense Fiction Book of the Year Award and was adapted into a two-part miniseries by Lifetime TV. Anita Diamant’s other novels include Good Harbor, The Last Days of Dogtown, and Day after Night. She is also the author of six non-fiction guides to contemporary Jewish life. An award-winning journalist, Pitching My Tent is a collection of her personal essays, drawn from twenty years worth of newspaper and magazine columns.
