Sarah Stodola is the author of two books— The Last Resort: A Chronicle of Paradise, Profit, and Peril at the Beach (2022), a cultural history of the beach resort that examines its growing importance in the world economy, as well as its future in the face of climate change, and Process: The Writing Lives of Great Authors (2015), a narrative journey through the writing habits of 18 famous writers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
She has written for The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Daily Beast, The BBC, CNN, Slice, and many others, often about books, travel, and other cultural topics, and founded Flung Magazine, a publication dedicated to the kind of critical thinking about travel often absent in the media.
Sarah is a former editor at The Fiscal Times, where she was a key member of the launch team, and adjunct scholar at Lapham’s Quarterly, the journal launched by former Harper’s editor-in-chief Lewis Lapham. Her essay, “Desperately Seeking Stardom,” appeared in the book Madonna and Me, from Soft Skull Press.
