On This Day On Nantucket is a day-by-day account on the island's fascinating history spanning the 1600s through the 1900s. Loaded with historic images, the book chronicles whaling, the island's progressive stances on women's rights, the anti-slavery movement and equal access to education for all, as well as Nantucket's geographic importance as a port, weather station and outpost for the U.S. Navy.
