J. R. Moehringer is a former national correspondent for The Los Angeles Times, where he won the Pulitzer prize for Feature Writing in 2000. In his memoir, The Tender Bar,published in 2005, he recounts his coming-of-age experiences at the local bar, Dickens, in Manhasset, New York, Subsequently, he collaborated with retired tennis star Andre Agassi on his own memoir, Open, which came out in 2009. An article of J.R.'s inThe Los Angeles Times was the basis for the film Resurrecting the Champ.
